A good cover letter should include a short introduction about yourself and must highlight your main skills. It should encourage potential employers to read through your resume to learn more about you. A cover letter is typically sent along with the resume for job application.

Given below are a few tips for creating a professional cover letter:

  • The cover letter body should clearly state the position for which you are applying, reasons why you the employer should call you for an interview and how you plan to follow up.
  • In the first paragraph of the cover letter, provide basic information such as the position for which you are applying, where did you learn about the job opportunity and reasons for applying for the position.
  • In the second paragraph, describe why you think you are an ideal candidate for the position and highlight your qualifications.
  • The last paragraph will form the conclusion. Thank the employer in this paragraph for considering your application and provide information on how you plan to follow up.
