Opening a Bank Account

One of the first things you will need to do once you're in Australia is open a bank account. At Stay Global, we recommend that you open your bank account in Australia at the earliest possible convenience since it will allow you to handle your finances safely and it will be a requirement in order to successfully gain employment.

In Australia, most banks do not charge monthly fees from student bank accounts. However, you will need to provide documents that prove you are a student in Australia. Student bank accounts can typically have a zero balance.

Documents required

In order to open a bank account, some of the basic documents needed are:

• Identification proof- birth certificate or passport
• Letter of Student status or Confirmation of Enrolment from the educational institution to prove your status as a full time student.
